Here at T-O-P Move Management, we are firm believers in a team approach. We believe that the very best way to help our clients through life’s biggest transitions is NOT alone. We not only enjoy serving as a manager, coordinator and advocate for your move…but also connecting you with other resources who share in our values of authenticity, integrity and adaptability.
Did you know that by 2050, people age 65 and older are expected to comprise 20 percent of the total U.S. population? And with the Baby Boomers aging, many adults find themselves in the ‘Sandwich Generation’ caring for aging parents and raising children at the same time. Thus, there is a growing need for professionals who are ready, willing & able to provide senior services simply and strategically.
Since many of the clients we serve are seniors who may be selling a family home, or who in some way need transaction assistance, we have had the pleasure of working with many vetted, dedicated and committed real estate professionals. Some even carry the SRES® designation, and today’s blog focuses on defining this affiliation and the benefits to the population aged 50+.
The SRES® designation refers to a real estate professional who has earned the ‘Senior Real Estate Specialist’ certification. As an official designation by the National Association of Realtors®, this role calls to attention that as we age, we not only need specialists in meeting our health needs – but our housing and equity needs too!
Wondering exactly what makes an SRES® designated agent unique? As defined by the NAR®, an SRES agent brings:
A customized approach to your situation, working to fit your living situation in with your overall life plan
Expertise and patience throughout the transaction
An awareness of options and a network of solid, reliable referrals to help you in the process
A variety of choices to reduce out of pocket expenses, gain cash, or create or defer income streams to either stay independent or obtain financial assistance
High-quality training provided to SRES® agents includes professional development and coursework in the areas of:
key life stages & transitions related to housing choices
uses of pensions, 401k accounts, and IRAs in real estate transactions
benefits, procedures, and issues involved in reverse mortgage
recognizing how a home can be adapted for safety, comfort, and aging in place
empathy and compassion in the concept of home

Whether you are downsizing, moving to an assisted living facility or even up-sizing (the new Baby Boomer trend!), a Senior Real Estate Specialist may provide the additional expertise, support and peace of mind that you need. After all, every move is stressful! But moving from a home you have lived in and loved for 30 years, or facing a whole new home and lifestyle in a senior community, can feel especially daunting. In our experience, we have found that our clients feel more at ease and more readily understood when working with a Senior Real Estate Specialist.
One of our good friends & colleagues, Bobbi Decker, is a SRES® agent in the Peninsula area, and she has created two exceptional resources for the 50+ population.
In addition, Bobbi just released her ‘Senior Spotlight: Ultimate Video, Podcast & Resource Guide’. CLICK HERE and find a selection of videos, blogs and even a radio podcast from a couple who recently downsized. This provides the unmatched & insightful perspective of individuals who have been through it…and what they learned along the way! Contact Bobbi at email@example.com or call 650.346.5352.
Let us know if you would like to learn more about our network of real estate agents, or if we can make a personal introduction!
All the best,
Helen & Julie
